This is an opportunity to join an ambitious, growing mobile game studio at a critical moment, where you will be among the very first members of a new Live Ops Art Team who will create exciting, seasonal art assets for our most popular live games.

Are you a skilled 2D illustrator, able to create artwork on par with the biggest players in the mobile games industry? Are you able to adapt to different art styles without breaking a sweat? Do you have an eye for quality that influences everything you make?

About the Role

Coming in at the beginning of the process, you will be pivotal in shaping the new Live Ops Art Team and establishing an effective workflow. Responsibilities will include:

  • Creating 2D illustrations for seasonal content drops within our live games. Initial examples could include illustrated icons, reward medals and badges, props and other objects, up to entire backgrounds for map-progression screens;

  • Concepting and designing these assets, collaborating remotely with the Game Art team to ensure the art style is appropriate and consistent;

  • Maintaining a high level of quality, ensuring that your work stands up against other big-name mobile games;

  • Updating AppStore and Google Play screenshots (localisations, holidays themes).

And as our workflow develops, your responsibilities may include:

  • Working directly in the Unity engine to implement your designs;

  • Creating animations and effects in Unity to bring them to life;

  • Assisting the Game Art team to create assets for the core game.

The quality and finish of your work will have a huge impact on the success of these seasonal in-game events.

Core Abilities

2D illustration is a critical part of this role and we’re particularly interested in illustrators who have worked on mobile games in the past and understand the process of creating stylized assets that look rich and appealing.

We expect:

  • A portfolio of high-quality illustrations, ideally featuring past work on mobile games and showing a ‘mobile game’ art style;

  • The ability to conceptualize new ideas for themes, rewards, and other collectibles, seek feedback, and then iterate upon them;

  • Confidence in working on multiple games in a range of art styles and with different design requirements;

  • Understanding of the mobile games industry, its design styles and trends, and how a blockbuster game is expected to look;

  • The ability to work efficiently and deliver assets in a timely manner;

  • B1 - B2 (Intermediate English, Upper-Intermediate English).

And we appreciate:

  • Supplementary skills such as animation.

  • A willingness to learn new skills and be hands-on with the game engine if required.
